About This Site / FAQMost likely, I will be reviewing them at some stage. Don't ask me when, or i'll get annoyed. The usual answer is either 'soon' or 'eventually'. I'm Adrian Denning from Coventry, England. I'm thirty two years old as of the 16th of May 2006. Work? Yes, unfortunately for me, I work in pensions and life. Hooray. I have no writing qualifications, I've never been much of a musician and I have little interest in writing for either the NME or any other publication. This site started circa 2001 just so I could share my passion about music with perhaps one other person that might care. Several reasons. Frames, flash animations are nice to look at, sure. Ultimately however, they serve no good purpose whatsoever. Sites built using frames are a no-no as far as search engines are concerned. Plastering the site in pictures isn't really appropriate, and besides, i'd have to steal all the images from someplace else - and I don't really want to do that. I'm an honest guy. Honestly! As for any other visual embellishments? No thanks. I'm not pitching this site for any design awards. My key questions always have been, can you read it? And can you get to where you want to go within a few easy clicks? Those questions, plus search engine rankings, plus my desire to keep things relatively simple - lead whatever design and appearence this site has. Legal ones, yes. I'll gladly put up MP3s from any band willing to send them to me. Send no more than two songs, no matter who you are, and thanks! Partly because of reasons stated in section 4 right above, but usually because i'm lazy. Plus, I'm my own editor. You know those guys at Q or Mojo? Yeah, they have editors! Correcting all the little typos, etc!! There are better written sites than my own effort, certainly. I'm not going to try to pretend i'm the greatest record reviewer on the planet, because the evidence is out there! My reviews tend to give little thought to being like 'proper' reviews, whether that's a good or a bad thing is for you to decide. I like some of them, others less so. Occasionally I believe I write good reviews, other times I don't. I'm only human and I certainly don't get paid for doing this! If an album is a current new release, that's a priority. Well, if I happen to own it, of course or it happens to be sent to me. Otherwise, reviewing artists and albums is decided by whims and fancies. I get sent three or four comments daily. I generally store them all up and post them in batches. So, if your comment hasn't been posted I either didn't like it, or it will be posted very very soon! If it's something more general or a request for a review, or a correction to an existing review, please feel free to use the message board. Thanks! Going back in time, from 2001 to 2004 I used Music Babble and the WRC as promotional tools. I discovered there was a similar group of sites interlinked. Everything was fine, but I took it upon myself, rightly or wrongly, to try and promote this group of sites. Everything was going well, although it began to take up more and more of my time. I wasn't receiving a huge amount of credit for doing this job nobody had even asked me to do in the first place! Hence, my biggest internet mistake. I attempted to dismantle and break this 'WRC' community through Music Babble, making enemies of friends in the process. I did it in such a way that for myself, there was no going back to be a contributing member of that community. Surprisingly ( unsurprisingly? ) since that day, now some two years plus ago, a minority of visitors to Music Babble haven't been able to forgive me. Thus, every few weeks it will all kick off, usually begun by someone faking me on the Babble message board. In the past two years, i've posted there perhaps a dozen times at the most. These days, every time I browse that board, I do so when something kicks off. Attempted hacks or spam into my own, far quieter message board, for example. I do apologise to those babblers I upset, but please do believe nothing since late 2004 posted on that forum under my name has really been me. That's important for new posters/readers to know, wondering what the hell is going on and why those guys seem to dislike me, and why I'm apparently posting over there acting like a five year old. The internet is great for freedom of speech, yet try not to believe everything you read!
